The work aims to reveal the key factors restricting the industrial application of rheocasting for aluminum alloys. It was proved that bifilm was the most destructive defect in rheocasting of aluminum alloys. The analysis showed that bifilm defect was mainly derived from the stage of semi-solid slurry preparation. The further development of preparation and technology of semi-solid slurry without bifilm defect was the key to study and develop the rheocasting. The basic ideas of reducing bifilm defect in the stage of semi-solid slurry forming by optimizing product structure, rheocasting process and mold have been put forward.
