The aim of this work was to study the feasibility of cross shaft forging by unidirectional warm extrusion. According to the structural characteristics of the cross shaft, the forming program was defined, and finite element technique was used to perform numerical simulation for the forming process, then the feasibility of the process was validated by combining with physical experiments. The experimental results were consistent with the finite element analysis, showing that the forming was good, without any unfulfilled defects and folding defects. In conclusion, cross shaft meeting the dimensional requirements was obtained by closed unidirectional warm extrusion forming process. The forming process was stable and reliable, and the forming technology was feasible. |
