      This paper introduces the main features and various propagation modes of Lamb wave in detail. By analysis of the wall thickness size and defect of small caliber cartridge case and solution of the Lamb wave characteristic curve, reasonable cartridge case Lamb wave flaw detection mode was selected, the rule of inside and outside surfaces flaw detection sensitivity of cartridge case wall and difference between inside and outside surfaces flaw detection sensitivity as well as the relation between flaw detection sensitivity and standard flaw depth were verified with three types of standard flaw samples, and then the feasibility of single mode flaw detection by ultrasonic Lamb wave and the mode selection were demonstrated.
