      The research progress of thermal expansion of magnesium alloys and magnesium matrix composites is introduced briefly, and the temperature, the volume fraction of reinforcement, reinforcement particle size, the shape of reinforcement particle ,the kind of reinforcement particle and heat treatment and others which influence the thermal expansion of the magnesium matrix composites are described. The theoretical prediction model of thermal expansion and prospects of the future development are introduced.
