The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of homogenization, extrusion and aging treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-5Gd-4Y-0. 3Zr alloy. Mg-5Gd-4Y-0. 3Zr alloy casting rod was prepared, then homogenization treatment and hot extrusion treatment were carried out. Tensile tests were conducted on the samples with different states. The metallographic microstructure was observed, and XRD was used to analyze the structure. The results showed that the as-cast alloy mainly consisted of a-Mg matrix and the second phase Mg5(Gd, Y). The second phase of the alloy dissolved completely after the homogenization treatment, and the mechanical property of the alloy was increased. The alloy structure was obviously refined after extrusion. The highest mechanical property was obtained after aging treatment at 200 ℃ for 60 h, and the ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and elongation were 423. 0 MPa, 335. 0 MPa, and 9. 0%, respectively. In conclusion, Mg-5Gd-4Y-0. 3Zr alloy not only has low cost feature, but also has excellent mechanical property. It is suitable for popularization and application. |
