The origin of the word and other names for direct digital manufacturing, its operating priciple and main types of technology, hardware and software development, the use of materials, applications, market growth and development prospects are introduced. The advantages and characteristics of the direct digital manufacturing (additive manufacturing) compared with conventional mechanical manufacturing industry in the price of using, processing speed, reliability and cost are stressed. Particularly in direct creating any number of complex processing object, internal structure and channel function, as well as match and optimization of the shape and structure of chassis components direct digital manufacturing has significant challenge and competitiveness. |
